South London builders make a date with local clients

A special event for South London builders was held at the Croydon Park Hotel last month to help them win work from local clients. Constructionline gave dozens of locally based small and medium sized companies the opportunity to meet key procurement decision makers from several local authorities, housing associations as well as other organisations to discuss upcoming construction projects.

Croydon and Bexley councils, Metropolitan Borough Housing Association and Affinity Sutton were among the 14 organisations at the ‘Meet the Buyer’ event which was free to attend for contractors. Rod Panayi, client relationship manager from Constructionline in the South East, said: “In many cases local councils and other businesses want to give work to SMEs in their area, and in turn the contractors are eager to win these tenders but it’s often hard for each to gain access to one another. This event gave local construction companies some valuable introductions and also assistance in completing the necessary paperwork required to apply for new tenders from the buyers.”
