Refurb specialist nets £8.5 million through Constructionline

A London-based refurbishment firm has secured 85 per cent of its sales through the UK’s largest register of pre-qualified contractors – Constructionline. Niblock, a £10 million turnover business, has continued to grow over the last twelve months thanks to its penetration in a buoyant public sector construction market.

The firm, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2009, works with a range of local authorities and housing associations across the South East including the Metropolitan Police and Ealing Homes.

Niblock is anticipating further sales growth this year due to the large number of public sector organisations using Constructionline to hire contractors across South London.

Constructionline is the only Government endorsed register of pre-qualified contractors and is operated by Capita on behalf of the Department for Business Innovation & Skills (BIS).

As a member of the register for well over a decade, Niblock has successfully used it to establish long-term partnerships with clients, most recently signing a four year framework agreement with Brent Housing Partnership.

Peter Burcow, services manager of Niblock, said: “Constructionline has been instrumental to our growth through unparalleled access to public sector organisations and housing associations’ procurement routes, and its ease of use.

“While our clients have access to detailed information about our capabilities, we can quickly pitch for tenders without duplicating paper work.”

Rod Panayi, client relationship manager for Constructionline in the South East, said: “In areas like South London where we work with a large number of public sector bodies, contractors using our register have instant access to a big market... We also save SMEs like Niblock a great deal of time in producing lengthy pre-qualification questionnaires for every tender they bid for, by completing a single version online which can be viewed by all their clients.”
