What do ‘Awarded’ and ‘Published’ mean in Market Intelligence?

On the Market Intelligence app, ‘Awarded’ refers to projects where the main contractor has confirmed that they have been awarded the contract. On the other hand, ‘Published’ denotes projects that main contractors have reported as being in the tendering phase, indicating they are actively bidding for these opportunities.

 

What happened in Q3 within the UK construction market?

Q3 UK Construction Market Report: Ireland leads closely behind London for new opportunities

Market Intelligence recorded 654 projects valued at £25 billion in total, representing a decrease in project count from Q2’s 849 projects, but an increase in overall value compared to Q2’s £11 billion. The value is staggering at more than double the previous quarter, with opportunities opening up across the UK, including Ireland.

 

Published projects flourish in Ireland

Q3 saw £2 billion worth of projects published in Ireland – a staggering increase from Q2 at £590 million.

Promising growth in the North of England

Opportunities continue in the North, with £1 billion being published in Yorkshire, more than double since Q2 at £464 million!

Which sectors are the most popular for projects added? 

Housing tenders lead the way again at 199 (214, £3 billion, Q2), followed by offices at 172 (101, £1 billion, Q2) and education at 110 (194, £1 billion, Q2).

What about awards by region?

Besides publishing opportunities, Ireland also led the way for 7 projects awarded in Q3 at £365 million! This was followed by 15 projects for Oxfordshire at £221 million and 60 projects in Scotland at £217 million. 

Total contract awards on Market Intelligence came to over £25 billion: an encouraging number for the construction market. In fact, Scotland came out on top for the number of projects awarded at 60, up from its 40 published in Q2.
