These regulations may increase the burden on the buyer’s procurement teams. However, by adopting Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP), buyers will further decrease the amount of admin they are required to do. This is because suppliers with an SSIP member scheme will have already met the required health and safety criteria at stage one of the assessment process, meaning that they will have more time to focus on the project specific requirements.
As a part of the Constructionline supplier assessment process, we accept all SSIP member assessment schemes as proof of a supplier’s health and safety management competency. This also means that all Constructionline registered buyers adopt the principles of SSIP.
