Acclaim scheme now accredited by UKAS

Acclaim Accreditation (Acclaim), the Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) product, which we offer to our members has now been endorsed by UKAS.

Acclaim is one of only four SSIP programmes in the UK to receive this accolade, with Acclaim now officially a Type C Inspection Body, delivering confidence and peace of mind to those using the scheme.

It is more essential than ever to ensure competence and compliance throughout your supply chain. You want an easy way to know your suppliers’ health and safety are up to the highest standards, while ensuring all their processes and systems meet your expectations. Whether you want to check if a supplier is compliant, or you need to demonstrate that you have met all the necessary requirements as a contractor, the UKAS-accredited Acclaim assessment gives you this assurance.

Why is UKAS accreditation so important?

UKAS (the United Kingdom Accreditation Service) is the national accreditation body for the United Kingdom. It is responsible for assessing organisations that provide certification, testing and inspection services, to help deliver confidence and reassurance around the products and services that we use.

Inspection services play a key role in providing peace of mind of the operational safety of products and services used every day. The UKAS accreditation demonstrates that Acclaim is qualified and technically competent to perform inspections with this capability recognised against national and international standards.

The assessment criteria is based on the international standard ISO/IEC 17020: 2012, Conformity Assessment – requirements for the various types of bodies performing inspection, which takes into account the following considerations:

Having exceeded all the assessment criteria, Acclaim is now accredited by UKAS, as a Type C Inspection Body.

What does Acclaim offer you?

A simple, credible and transparent scheme, Acclaim plays a key role in improving health and safety standards across the UK, while minimising duplication and cost for both buyers and suppliers.

Acclaim undertakes an impartial and independent online assessment of your company’s health and safety documentation and work activities. This serves to give confidence to your customers that your business has the right systems and processes in place, so they can rely on you to complete a job to the highest standards.

Acclaim offers one platform for managing compliance and health and safety information, making your life easier. Not only that, but it saves up to 40% on cost when compared with holding multiple health and safety schemes. This provides a substantial cost saving to businesses.

Acclaim is available to any construction business that serves either the public or private sectors. Acclaim is undertaken by health and safety scheme assessors, who are qualified to at least NEBOSH standard (the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health).
